AIM:
The Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) nursing program aims at preparing professional nurse who can function independently as the member of health team in providing preventive, primitive, curative and rehabilitative nursing care to the clients and take leadership role in managing client care in the hospital as well as in community settings.
COMPETENCIES:
On completion of the course the students will be able to:
- Apply sound knowledge in planning and providing care to clients.
- Carry out preventive and therapeutic nursing measures skillfully.
- Communicate effectively with individuals and groups in variety of settings
- Utilize nursing process for providing comprehensive nursing care to the clients
- Take leadership role in planning, directing, supervising and evaluating client care
- Teach individuals and groups including health workers for the promotion of the clients,health
- Demonstrate positive attitude towards socio – cultural values and norms of individuals in meeting their health needs.
Program requirement
For admission:
- The candidate must pass school leaving certificate (SLC) with English, Mathematics and Science must score a minimum of 50 % marks in aggregate.
- All the applicants must sit for an entrance examination. The entrance examination of 100 marks will be 50 %.
- The students will be selected on the merit basic of the entrance examination.
- The program is open to female candidates only.
For graduation:
- The program is designed for continuous full – time study over a period of three years.
- Students must complete successfully all prescribed courses.
- Students must maintain pass marks 40 % in theory and 50% in practical courses.
- Students must have at last 75% attendance in theory class and 90% attendance in practical/field.
